19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
19 This refers to the time of the end, things will be worse from one generation to the next which is happening in today’s time as people as people move further and further away from the Lord. Those of God will try only to protect their children against the evils of this but realize it will do no good, it is better to teach them the ways of God rather then to have them avoid the world but give them to doctrine so they can stay strong in Him as they go into the world, not everyone will accept Him even if they are taught about Him.
20 During the end times we as Christians will have to run because we will stand strong in our faith but the only place we have to run is Him. People were not allowed to go far on the Sabbath; travel is hardest during the winter due the cold weather and lack of food to find as you go because nothing grows in the winter.
21 The disciples had it very hard to think of a time that would be even harder is hard to imagine but Christians will be killed as they were during the time of Nero but it will be far worse because they will not miss any and the biggest aid would not come to Christ on the road to Damascus.
22 This chosen people may refer to those of the Faith or refer to those who are Jewish. God will not allow this time to go on long, His mercy will finally run out on those whip reject Christ and judgment will come.
