Matthew 23:29-32King James Version (KJV)
29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

29 They considered themselves to be the final authority on what God’s word meant and who it should be put into effect. They knew the law better than anyone but they did not know God because they rejected Christ. The prophets follow after God and listened and shared His word. Men who have God’s approval are men who follow after God above all other things.
30 Most of the prophets were murder those who were not were often mocked our ridiculed. There were view were accepted men such as Moses and Samuel and Nathan but even for them they face rejection. Samuel was rejected by king Saul and so it resulted in David becoming king. Moses was rejected by the sons of Korah. 31 They were proud that were descendents of those that killed the prophets but were happy to claim they would do different, they would in up doing worse because they would not seek to kill a prophet but God in the flesh, Jesus Christ.
32 Their ancestors always rejected God’s will and plan them were going to reject God Himself.
