Mark 2:6-8 King James Version (KJV)
6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

6 These scribes often graved power but some simply study the word as they wrote it waiting for God to fulfill it, the scribes did not have one view of scripture but copied down scripture and more waiting for understanding, they were experts at what scripture said but not the meaning behind it.
7 Only God can forgive sins, this is why Jesus can forgive sins because He is the Lord God.
8 Jesus here shows His true power by reading their hearts but their lack of faith does not allow them to see Him doing this. Jesus knows what is on our heart but He still loves us.
