28 And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.

28 David ·commanded [summoned] all the ·leaders [officials] of Israel to come to Jerusalem. There were the ·leaders [officials; commanders; chiefs] of the tribes, ·commanders [officers] of the army divisions serving the king, commanders of a thousand men and of a hundred men, ·leaders [officials; overseers] who took care of the property and animals that belonged to the king and his sons, ·men over the palace [palace officials], the ·powerful [mighty] men, and all the ·brave [valiant] warriors.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
Now the leaders were called so that not everyone had to come, the leader were to let those they lead know what David said so that everyone knew. These may just be the leaders though that work for the king, but really everyone in the kingdom was in service of the king and this men had authority because of them being the king's leaders. We as Christians are all servant leaders of our King Jesus and we have a very important duty of serving our king.
