Matthew 27:57-61 King James Version (KJV)
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

57 He was of the council that decided Jesus should have been put to death but the trail was in secret so he wouldn’t have been their. He may have been a Pharisee because of his connection to Nicademus who followed Jesus.
58 It was allowed for this to be done, the disciples were in hiding and Mary most likely wouldn’t have been able to afford to bury the body because most people of the times couldn’t afford to but this fulfills scripture and puts Jesus in the tomb which would be only borrowed for a few days.
59 This was custom they way they did it was put the body in a linen cloth and come back the next year and put the bones in a stone box with in the tomb, this would not been done with Jesus because He would rise from the dead leaving the cloth folded saying He would be back.
60 So Jesus is put in the tomb, which is much like a cave on the side of a mountain. This rock was to prevent people coming to steal the body and keep grave robbers out.
61 This made them know where the tomb was because they would be back there later but Jesus would be going to heaven.
