Matthew 27:45-47 King James Version (KJV)
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
45 This wouldn’t be normal, it was odd being dark but this was done because God died on earth for sins. This was a sign of God mourning. This was from noon to 3, midday.
46 Jesus is referring back to the Psalms, this could be to further teach from the cross so that they may understand what is happening. God did not forsake Jesus. Jesus already knew He had and would die. God accepted the sacrifice for our debt of sin.
47 For the people to confuse the name of God for the name of Elijah just showed their fallen beliefs, they would have probably cried out to Elijah while it was people like them that would try to have him killed, we should only cry to the Lord. Jesus is big enough to where we don’t and should pray thru another.
