Matthew 27:11-14 King James Version (KJV)
11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

11 And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor did question him, saying, `Art thou the king of the Jews!' And Jesus said to him, `Thou sayest.'
12 And in his being accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not answer any thing,
13 then saith Pilate to him, `Dost thou not hear how many things they witness against thee?'
14 And he did not answer him, not even to one word, so that the governor did wonder greatly.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
11 Jesus was admitting to start an earthly kingdom, this would have been treason. Jesus admitting to King of a heavenly Kingdom made them think He was crazy rather then someone who would overthrow them. Jesus could took Rome if He willed it.
12 Jesus was not King of this group because they rejected Him and He was already found guilty of them at this point they wouldn’t listen their hearts were hard.
13 Jesus never sinned these people false accused Him or twisted the good He did and tried to make it evil. The Jewish claims were not against Roman law.
14 Most defend themselves but Jesus nothing to defend us by dying for our sins.
