Firstly, I would like to introduce my self and how I came to know the Lord........
To start with my name is Les Brewer and live in the UK; I have been a Christian now since the early 1980's.
I was coming up to the last year or so in school when my journey to becoming a Christian started and this is how it all began.
What started my journey was this (because it did not actually happen over night); in-fact in order for me to become a Christian, God was to take me on an incredible journey, at some points very upsetting. But it was necessary for me to go through these things in order to get where I am today.
The seed for my Journey started with the fact that when my brother Steve went to a healing Crusade for an eye problem that he had when we were both at School. Steve is two years younger than my self and I knew nothing about this healing until a while later, let alone who healed him. Well for some time after his healing, he went to a lunch time School bible study group which was ran by a lovely guy who was our R.E teacher, and in that school study group was a lad who was also from my year and he was actually in one of my classes that taught woodwork etc. We became very good close friends and not only did he keep me going along to the school lunch time group, but he also invited me a long to his Bible study evening group which was once a week in the evenings else where.
At the same time my brother was invited to a Christian youth club by the same people who took him to the healing crusade and that led me to going along in time as well. Sadly my brother chose later to draw away from the interest of the youth club and some time after, even his faith, and started to find other things to fill in his time.
God had other plans for me though. There was a Christian youth band playing in town that I was made aware of and at the end there was an invitation to Christ. That evening I came forward and excepted Jesus there and then. One night, the evening study had a Baptism of the Holy Spirit and I had received that too....
After becoming a Christian & just left school I had the chance to help run a lovely Bible teaching Sunday School & also went on to help the Christian Youth club that gave youngsters the chance to hear God's word + the opportunity to bring them to our Lord & Savior; also not forgetting to have lots of fun too.
Sadly though, not only did my brother turn away from Jesus, my parents found that they no longer had any more to give to each other and filed for divorce. At the age of 17 years old I was left to try and make sense of why Dad had love for someone else, also making sense of the bitterness from mum and quite often feeling like a tug of war rope.... I was so glad that Jesus had just rescued me at this point because the separation and the divorce took many years (lets say, I was 21 when the flames had just died with it all) I was glad that too I had a lot of Christians around me literally keeping me standing through supportive prayer and encouragement. Jesus walked with me every single day with repeated words from everyone, (Keep trusting Him Les!). The emotions affected my health with breathing as well where I was hyperventilating. The last memories of the nightmare was to come to an end where even my Dad was made to see what was happening. We went out one day to a big city and during that day we went to a restaurant to eat. Whiles waiting, I started another breathing attack and in those days none of us drove a car. He asked how long this had been happening and realized that his divorce was bring down his oldest Son. He got us all back to the train station and back to where we live; he got us into a taxi to go back to mums. Dad turned his back where he heard an incredible crash, he ran up the road to see what had happened but saw the taxi that we were in was still moving; that part of the road we were on just missed the collision by 10 seconds. That coming week he had arranged for his solicitor to bring the fight to an end.
As years went by though, various changes in life happened. Sadly everyone that was involved with the youth group and Sunday School that I was involved with, including myself had other new commitments which lead over time to bring it all to an end.
For many years I use to go to another BIBLE STUDY group; also I went to a lovely Church as well where Sharon my lovely wife & I got married in June 1994. We very much needed our Christian fellowship but again as our lives unfolded with illness in the family & eventually with distance to when we moved, it just made it too difficult to get to hear God's word in a Church building.
For a while I could not get to hear God's word at all & that's not good. Eventually I started looking at on-line sermons which I found a few. One day I found a good one - Hosted on a website called "PATHWAY TO VICTORY" which was lead by Dr Robert Jeffress; I think I started following it just before Robert moved and went to Dallas because as soon as I settled down watching these weekly services; for awhile when he did moved, it took a few weeks to find where he had gone and start watching again. In the end, I did find him again. Even now I do enjoy watching the services from First Baptist Church Dallas which although we are 100's miles apart, I do feel this is my Church. Over time I found a few other sites that brought God’s word to us as well, which I like to visit.
A few years ago God laid it upon my heart to do something to help others that are not in the position to hear his word and he asked me to create "Friends of Jesus" It started as a forum in October in 2011 year then went on to become a face book group in January 2012. Very recently our Lord as been allowing me to find other little groups like this one to join.
I hope you have found this testimony helpful. If you have questions that you would like to ask please feel free to ask them; I can tell you that my journey continues very much everyday and there is no way in this world I can live my life with out Jesus.
