Matthew 26:42-46 King James Version (KJV)
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

42 Again, a second time, having gone away, he prayed, saying, `My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from me except I drink it, Thy will be done;'
43 and having come, he findeth them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 And having left them, having gone away again, he prayed a third time, saying the same word;
45 then cometh he unto his disciples, and saith to them, `Sleep on henceforth, and rest! lo, the hour hath come nigh, and the Son of Man is delivered up to the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us go; lo, he hath come nigh who is delivering me up.'
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
42 Jesus was praying that regardless that of what He wanted that God’s will be done this is how we are to be as Christians, Jesus new why He had to bring about the new covenant and knew that there was no other way than for Him to take on the sins of the world, we as Christians may not have an understanding of what God is doing but we are to follow Him any way and He will reveal things to us along the way and we may learn the reason why for things.
43 They were unable to sleep, for Him to be at the most stressful part of His life and find no one there and know that He had to deal with this alone, Jesus was taking on the sins of the world and answering to God for them so no one could help Him with that, the people who don’t come to Jesus to have their sins forgiven will face their sin alone and have no one to be there with them during judgment.
44 So Jesus prayed again a third time, the scriptures talk about vain repeating of prayers but if they are heart felt then they are not vain even if they are the same words said 100 times.
45 So now Jesus does not even try to wake them, it is possible that they would not sleep for the next couple of days because of what would happen to Jesus. The time had come the whole reason Jesus came was about to be fulfilled.
46 Jesus was saying that Judas was coming to betray Him this what started the whole process.
