Nehemiah 2:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

19 But when Sanballat, the Horonite, and Tobiah, the slave, the Ammonite, and Geshem, the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn and despised us and said, What is this thing that ye do? Will ye rebel against the king?
20 Then I gave them a reply and said unto them, The God of the heavens, he will prosper us; therefore, we, his slaves, will arise and build; but ye have no portion nor righteousness, nor memorial in Jerusalem.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
19 They hated them and made fun of them this is often times the reaction from those who do not serve the Lord towards us who are devoted to Him, they try to cause us trouble. The king allowed this, they just knew if anyone but the king orders this they could perhaps stop it, they may have been trying to cause enough trouble to where the king would stop but that was at a risk of being seen as them rebelling against the king.
20 He told them that God would allow it, when something is God’s will nothing can stop it from happening, He makes a way when things seem to be impossible.
