Matthew 26:14-16 King James Version (KJV)
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Matthew 26:14-16 Jubilee Bible 2000 (JUB)
14 ¶ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the princes of the priests
15 and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

14 It was said by the prophets that a friend would betray Him and this is what was starting to happen. Regardless of what people may say of why Judas betrayed Him the fact is he done just as scripture said.
15 See learn from John’s gospel that Judas was in charge of the money bag and stole from it so we see how Judas has a problem with greed. There were two different kinds of silver one which was a day’s work and then one was much more the money most likely was the bigger but with his issue of greed it could have been the smaller, 30 pieces of silver was the common price to buy a slave. So they see Jesus no better than a slave even though He is the Master.
16 So Judas looked for the time to betray Him, we see in John’s gospel that Jesus told him to go and take care of it, telling him it was time.
